The Social Services Unit (SSU) primarily
functions as a
support service to police personnel and as a proactive
intervention and interaction service provider to the Carol
Stream community. The unit is staffed with one Supervisor, two
Social Workers, one Clerk and a varying number (one to four) of
unpaid Interns. The support services provided by the Social
Service Unit include a comprehensive referral service,
diagnostic consultation, crisis intervention, individual,
family, couples (domestic) and group counseling.
The
Social Services Unit coordinates a village-wide community
outreach project to promote the spirit of sharing with
underprivileged families in Carol Stream. Food, clothing and
holidays gifts are provided to families and children
through the Christmas Sharing program.
