  • Liquid crystal display (LCD) is a thin flat light display device that utilizes 2 sheets of polarizing material surrounding a liquid crystal solution.

When energized, a current passes through the liquid causing the crystals to align so light is unable to pass through.

The advantage of LCD technology includes:

    Smaller size
    Less eyestrain
    Lower power consumption
    Less heat generation
    Lighter weight
    Better image contrast

Products with LCD display or lighting technology offers consumers considerable savings over the product's useful life. In some cases, the energy-consumption of an average computer LCD display can be ½ to ⅔ of that for an average CRT. ENERGY STAR labeled LCD monitors can save consumers even more.
