  • Carol Stream has an active program using volunteers to clean up ponds and streams throughout the Village.

Their efforts have removed over 24 tons of trash from 218 miles of shorelines and stream banks! Every year volunteers "sweep our ponds and streams" by picking up trash and debris along the pond shorelines and stream banks. Since 1999 almost 1,645 volunteers have participated in our annual Pond & Stream Sweep.

If you are interested in making a difference you may contact Engineering Services at (630) 871-6220 or email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. The Village supplies all the equipment (plastic bags and gloves) and will pick up the bags and haul them to a dumpster. All you need to do is show up at your assigned location at 9:00 a.m. and we can get to work. Almost all sites are cleaned up within 2 to 3 hours leaving you the afternoon to enjoy.
