Village Board Selects First Energy as Electric Aggregation Program Supplier

At their November 19th meeting, the Carol Stream Village Board unanimously approved a 2-year contract with First Energy to supply electricity with 100% green energy credits.  During the first year of the contract, residents and eligible small business who participate in the aggregation program will be charged a 24-month rate of 5.313₵/kilowatt hour (kWh) which is 40% less than the current Com-Ed wintertime supply rate of 8.82₵/kWh.  The average Carol Stream electric customer using 750 kilowatts each month can anticipate savings of $25/month during the first several months of the aggregation program

Carol Stream Voters Approve Electric Aggregation Referendum

The preliminary results of the Carol Stream Municipal Electric Aggregation Referendum saw 60% of local voters who went to the polls on November 6th and weighed in on the electric aggregation referendum vote ‘Yes’ on the ballot petition to gave the Village authority to bundle electric supply for its 15,100 homeowners and approximately 75 small businesses.  The next step in the aggregation process includes adopting a Plan of Operations and Governance which is scheduled for the November 19th regular Village Board meeting.
