July 28th Severe Storm– Recovery Status Update

The Village continues its coordinated effort to assist the community recover from the Severe Summer Storm Event of Thu., July 28th. Village officials met today with ComEd officials to expedite the restoration of power to approximately 350 homes in the community that remain without power.  The Village has been assured that restoration efforts will continue round the clock until power service is restored to the remaining homes.

Update as of July 28, 2011 4:00 pm

The Village continues recovery efforts in the Carol Stream Estates residential subdivision from the early morning severe thunderstorm accompanied by damaging winds.  Field recovery operations are being led by the Village’s Public Works Department accompanied by 2 private contractor crews and 5 municipal mutual aid crews from area Public Works Departments who will continue work into the late afternoon.  The tree/brush removal crews working in the recovery area will be joined by additional municipal mutual aid crews tomorrow and likely into Saturday morning to continue the extensive brush removal effort. It is estimated that approximately 200 trees in the Carol Stream Estates subdivision were damaged during the storm. Residents will be allowed to place tree limbs in the parkway for collection by the Village. All branches and limbs must be placed in the parkway no later than 7:00 am Monday, August 1st.  Crews will only make one pass through each neighborhood
