WATER DIVISION OVERVIEW
The mission
of the Water Division is to provide the Village's water customers
with continuous, high quality water that meets national drinking water
standards. The Water Division is responsible for the following programs:
Distribution System Maintenance & Repair, which
includes the annual fire hydrant flushing, and the inspection,
maintenance and repair of all elements of the Carol Stream water
distribution system, including:
--Three
(3) Water Pressure Adjusting Stations
--Three
(3) Standby Supply Wells
--Five
(5) Water Storage Tanks
--Over
100 Linear Miles of Water Supply Main
--Over
1,700 Fire Hydrants
Daily
Inspections, including inspections of water/sewer installations,
service connections, main extensions, meter installations and IEPA-mandated
water quality sampling.
Water
Metering, which includes the repair, replacement and reading
of water meters; the tracking of maintenance activity for over
10,000 customer meters in the system; and water system turn-ons
and turn-offs.
These programs operate under the direct supervision of
the Village’s Water/Sewer Supervisor.
