POLICE DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
Chief Kevin Orr welcomes you to the Carol Stream Police
Department.
The men and women of the Carol Stream Police Department work
diligently to provide safety, security and service to our
residents and businesses. We work with the community to make
Carol Stream a safe and comfortable place to live, work and
recreate. Traffic safety continues to be a focus of the
Department. Through the dedicated efforts of our officers,
impaired drivers are identified and removed from our highways.
Our Automated Traffic Law Enforcement camera system for red
light violations has been implemented on North Ave at Gary Ave.
and North Ave. at Kuhn Rd. You can be assured that our officers
make every attempt to ensure the safety of your loved ones when
they travel in our community. The Department continues to work
toward full accreditation from the Commission for the
Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). It is
anticipated that the Department will be ready for our on-site
assessment in 2010.
The Carol Stream Police
Department received second place in the International
Association of Chiefs of Police National Law Enforcement
Challenge for 2008. The challenge recognizes the excellence
of a department's traffic safety program.
The Carol Stream Police
Department received the Guardian Award from the Alliance
Against Intoxicated Motorists (AAIM). The Guardian Award
is given each year to a department in DuPage County with the
highest rate of DUI arrests per officer. Carol Stream
averaged 9.44 arrests per officer in 2008.
The Department has seven
programs that include Administration/Customer
Service, Patrol, Investigation,
Social
Service, Records,
Traffic and
Special
Operations.
