Executive Order 2020-32 requires that any person over the age of two wear a face-covering when in a public place and unable to maintain a six-foot physical distance. Face-coverings are also required in public indoor spaces such as stores and restaurants.

On August 25, 2020 Governor Pritzker announced updated requirements for mask use in restaurants. The new policy says that patrons should wear a face-covering while interacting with wait-staff and other employees, when food and beverages are brought to the table, and when picking up carryout or drive-thru orders. Face-coverings should be worn properly, over the nose and mouth to ensure effectiveness. Exceptions may be made for individuals with medical conditions or disabilities that prevent them from safely wearing a mask. If the public has Covid-19 related complaints against any DuPage County business, like lack of mask enforcement, or other unsafe or unsanitary conditions, they may use the DuPage County Health Department’s online complaint form to submit a report.

To help businesses and employers implement the updated safety guidelines in Restore Illinois Phase 4, the DuPage County Health Department set up a business assistance website with guidance for operating safely and understanding the new guidelines.
