West Nile Virus Detected at Carol Stream Mosquito Trap

Post Date:08/27/2020 3:39 PM
DuPage County Health Department's West Nile Virus (WNV) surveillance program, which sets traps around DuPage County to catch and test mosquitoes for WNV, detected a WNV-positive test near St. Charles Rd. and Westgate Dr. (along the Great Western Trail).

The Village’s mosquito abatement contractor, Clarke Mosquito, regularly checks the area for breeding activity and applies larvicide and spraying, as needed. Clarke also conducted their seventh adult mosquito control application of the season on Monday of this week.

While there are NO human cases to report in Carol Stream or DuPage County to date, please use caution while outside in this area and remember the 4 D’s of Defense to protect yourself from mosquito bites:
  1. Drain
  2. Defend
  3. Dress
  4. Dusk to Dawn

To report high mosquito activity levels/standing water and receive automated notifications prior to future adult-mosquito applications:
