Carol Stream is excited to announce the release of our first ever Urban Forest Management Plan! This plan and its supporting Tree Inventory and Tree Preservation Ordinance are part of a year-long cooperative effort to take the next step in Carol Stream’s public tree stewardship. 

The inventory located 8,237 public trees with a standing value of $13,187,087 and provided insight on the condition and diversity of our tree stock. The UFMP offers guidance on tree care, species selection, community awareness, and improving overall tree canopy.

This project received funding from the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service through direction of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and support from the Morton Arboretum as well as Great Lakes Urban Forestry Management.
