Volunteer for the Annual Pond & Stream Sweep

Post Date:04/03/2024 2:00 PM

If you’re looking for something to do outdoors, how about joining us for the annual Pond & Stream Sweep?

Every year, the Village conducts its Pond & Stream Sweep event concurrently with The Conservation Foundation's DuPage River Sweep to pick up litter. The first event occurred in 1999 and since then, volunteers have removed over 24 tons of trash from 218 miles of shorelines and stream banks!

This year's event will take place on Saturday, May 4 from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Any person interested in volunteering should complete the online registration form. The form also includes a map of ponds scheduled for cleanup this year. Basic equipment (e.g. pokers, plastic bags, and gloves) will be available for pickup from the Engineering Services Department. After any pond cleaning, garbage should be properly secured and placed adjacent to the roadway so that staff can pick-up for disposal. Any basic equipment provided by the Village needs to be returned on the next business day. If you have any questions, please contact Engineering Services Department at (630) 871-6220 or via email.

Thank you for volunteering!
