LANE CLOSURE NOTICE - EXPECT SIGNIFICANT DELAYS:
On Gary Avenue at St. Charles Road, both northbound lanes will be closed during portions of Monday, August 11, Tuesday, August 12, and Wednesday, August 13. Northbound traffic will be shifted to the left turn lane before the St. Charles Road intersection to proceed northbound on Gary Ave or turn left on St. Charles Rd, but significant delays are anticipated.
The traffic adjustment is necessary for the Village of Carol Stream to perform a sanitary sewer point repair on Gary Ave, near the Great Western Trail.
Work Schedule & Street Impact:
Location: Northbound Gary Avenue (at St. Charles Road)
Monday, August 11:
• 8:30 PM – Lane closures begin (northbound lanes)
• 9:00 PM – Excavation begins (Vian Construction)
Tuesday, August 12:
• By 3:00 PM – Pipe repair complete; lanes reopen
Wednesday, August 13:
• Mid-morning (estimated at 10:00 AM) – Lane closures resume for final work
• Afternoon (estimated by 3:00 PM) – Project complete; lanes reopen
Traffic Routing & Lane Closure Details:
· Northbound traffic on Gary Avenue will be shifted to the left turn lane directly before the St. Charles Road intersection during construction. Both northbound lanes will be closed during the repair work.
· Southbound lanes will remain open, with no expected impacts.
· Gary Avenue will remain open for northbound traffic, but the lane shift into the single turn lane will cause delays.
· Significant delays are expected, especially during the Tuesday morning commute.
