West Nile Virus Confirmed in Carol Stream

Post Date:09/12/2025 3:12 PM

The Village of Carol Stream has been notified that a resident has been diagnosed with West Nile Virus. Village staff are working closely with Clarke Mosquito Control to evaluate the need for additional testing throughout the community. If mosquito breeding areas are identified, they will be treated immediately with larvicide to help reduce the risk of further transmission.

How Residents Can Help Prevent Mosquito Breeding

Community participation is critical in controlling mosquito populations. Residents are encouraged to:

  • Dump standing water around homes, including buckets, birdbaths, gutters, and planters.

  • Use insect repellent when spending time outdoors.

  • Wear long sleeves and pants during dawn and dusk, when mosquitoes are most active.

The Village will continue to monitor conditions and share updates as needed.
