Recycling, Shredding & Pumpkin Smash Nov. 1

Post Date:10/20/2025 12:56 PM

The Village of Carol Stream invites DuPage County residents to take part in the Recycling, Shredding & Pumpkin Smash Event on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to noon at the Ross Ferraro Town Center (960 N. Gary Avenue). The annual event provides an easy and environmentally friendly way to clear out unwanted items, securely dispose of documents, and compost Halloween pumpkins. All DuPage County residents are welcome to participate.

What You Can Bring

  • Electronics Recycling – Safely recycle old electronics, including TVs and computer monitors (note: fees apply for certain items).
  • Textile & Clothing Recycling – Drop off dry, reusable clothing, shoes, and household textiles.
  • Paper Shredding – Up to six boxes or paper bags per person will be accepted. Please remove binders, plastic covers, or metal clips before arriving.
  • Pumpkin Smash – After Halloween, bring your pumpkins for composting. All decorative items such as candles, stickers, or plastic accessories must be removed beforehand.

Why Participate?

This community event not only helps residents declutter their homes safely and securely, but it also promotes sustainability by keeping waste out of landfills. Shredding helps protect against identity theft, recycling supports a circular economy, and composting pumpkins enriches local soil instead of adding to trash streams.
