Free Heart Screenings for Glenbard North Students
Tuesday, November 11, 2025
Young Hearts for Life® (YH4L) will provide free ECG heart screenings to pre-registered Glenbard North High School students during physical education classes on Tuesday, November 11.
A parent or guardian must provide consent for a student to participate in this life-saving program.
These simple, painless screenings can detect many heart conditions linked to sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) — the leading cause of death among young athletes.
YH4L is the largest cardiac screening program in the United States, dedicated to identifying youth (ages 12–24) at risk for SCA. Since 2006, YH4L has screened more than 340,000 students and found over 3,600 with previously undiagnosed heart conditions. The organization recommends repeat screening every two years.
Why This Matters
- An ECG can detect up to 70% of heart conditions linked to SCA, compared to just 4% through standard physical exams.
- Sudden cardiac arrest is the #1 cause of death among young adult athletes.
- The ECG test is quick, painless, and non-invasive.
✅ Parent/guardian consent is required for participation.
