The Village of Carol Stream anticipates conducting a prescribed burn along the Klein Creek streambank area south of W. Thunderbird Trail and Arrowhead Trail in the coming days, weather permitting.
Prescribed burns are part of the Village’s ongoing maintenance of naturalized areas and are used to manage invasive vegetation, encourage native plant growth, and reduce reliance on herbicides.
Weather conditions, including wind direction, are evaluated prior to the burn to minimize smoke impacts to nearby residential areas. Residents in the immediate area may notice smoke during the burn period.
Prescribed burning will continue through the spring. Impacted residents are notified via mailer, and local Police and Fire Departments are notified prior to the activity. A map of the burn area is provided below.
If you have questions or concerns, please contact the Village’s Engineering Services Department at (630) 871-6220.
