The Village of Carol Stream is proud to announce that the Carol Stream Police Department has achieved Tier 1 accreditation through the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ILEAP), a program of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police.
The department was formally recognized at the April 20, 2026 Village Board meeting following a comprehensive evaluation process. Tier 1 accreditation signifies that the department has met 69 rigorous standards reflecting nationally recognized best practices in law enforcement.
The accreditation process included an on-site assessment conducted by trained ILEAP assessors, who evaluated the department’s policies, procedures, operations, and overall performance. These standards address key areas such as policy development, training, accountability, and operational effectiveness.
“This recognition represents far more than a single achievement; it reflects the culture of professionalism, accountability, and service that defines this organization,” said Police Chief Donald Cummings. “Our personnel demonstrate each day a commitment to serving the Village of Carol Stream with integrity, empathy, and purpose.”
The Carol Stream Police Department will continue its accreditation efforts by pursuing higher levels within the ILEAP program.
