Utility Providers Expanding Fiber Optic Infrastructure in Carol Stream

Post Date:05/11/2026 9:07 AM

Residents may have seen crews digging in their neighborhoods around Carol Stream.  Several providers, including AT&T and Ezee Fiber, are currently expanding their 100% fiber optic networks across the Village to bring high-speed internet and phone services to our residents.

 What to expect

Locate:  Crews identify underground utilities.   You will see utility locating flags and landscape-safe paint of various colors in yards, sidewalks and roads.   Please do NOT move these flags-they are legally required to ensure other existing utility lines are not hit during construction.

Build:  Construction teams will begin digging trenches or attaching fiber to utility poles.  Total time in your yard typically ranges from 30 minutes to one full day.

Repair:  Once the fiber optic utility line is placed and construction is complete, a separate restoration crew will return generally within a couple of weeks (weather permitting) to install topsoil, grass seed and apply straw to any disturbed lawn areas.

Where are they allowed to work?

Like all public utility companies, these providers have submitted plans/details and obtained permits to access the Village’s right-or-way and rear yard utility easements.

The utility company is responsible for notifying the residents prior to work beginning in an area.

Who to contact with questions or concerns

Because these are not Village projects, the quickest way to resolve property concerns or damage is to contact the providers directly:
