Community members are invited to participate in a Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) training on Thursday, June 25 at Carol Stream Village Hall.
This training is designed for adults who work with or support young people ages 12–18, including parents, teachers, coaches, and caregivers. Covering common youth mental health and adolescent development topics, the course provides practical tools to recognize signs of mental health or substance use challenges and respond appropriately in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics include anxiety, depression, substance use, psychotic disorders, disruptive behavior disorders (such as AD/HD), and eating disorders.
This training is fundedby a generous grant from KidsMatter and hosted by the Carol Stream Police Department Social Services Unit.

The course follows a blended learning format, combining a 2-hour self-paced online component with a 5-hour in-person, instructor-led session. The online portion builds foundational knowledge, while the in-person session focuses on real-life examples, hands-on practice, and skill-building.
