Know the Rules Before You Ride
As e-bikes, e-scooters, and other motorized devices become increasingly popular, the Carol Stream Police Department reminds residents to review local regulations before operating these devices.
E-Bike Operators-Must be at least 16 years old
-Must possess a valid driver's license
E-Scooter Operators-Must be at least 18 years old
-Must possess a valid driver's license
Motorized Bicycles and Similar Devices-Must be at least 16 years old
-Must possess a valid driver's license
These devices are NOT permitted:-On sidewalks
-On multi-use paths and trails
-At Town Center events
-On streets with a posted speed limit over 35 MPH
-Anywhere prohibited by Village ordinance
Parents and guardians should also be aware that they may be held responsible for violations committed by minors under the age of 17.Our goal is to keep everyone safe while enjoying the summer months. Please review the regulations before operating any micromobility device and help us keep Carol Stream safe for pedestrians, motorists, and riders alike.
