Extreme hot temperatures are expected this week. If you or someone you know needs relief from high temperatures, cooling centers are available throughout DuPage County, including:
- Carol Stream Public Library - 616 Hiawatha Dr, 630-653-0755 - During operating hours
Availability may vary by location, so call ahead before visiting or dial 2-1-1 for assistance.
- Keep blinds and curtains closed to block sunlight.
- Stay on the lowest floor of your home, where it’s cooler.
- Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing.
- Drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol or caffeine.
- Limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day
- Use battery-powered fans if available.
If you or someone you know experiences a medical emergency due to the heat, call 911 immediately.
Stay safe and check in on older adults, neighbors, and others who may be more vulnerable to the heat.
