Village Launches Military Honors Banner Program
The Village of Carol Stream, in partnership with Carol Stream VFW Post 10396, is proud to introduce the Military Honors Banner Program, a new community initiative recognizing veterans and active-duty service members with ties to Carol Stream.
Each year, six honorees will be selected to receive commemorative banners displayed on designated poles surrounding the Carol Stream Veterans Memorial from Memorial Day through Veterans Day. The program honors those who have served or are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces while preserving their stories for future generations.
The program is funded by the Village of Carol Stream, and there is no cost to participate.
Applications are open to eligible active-duty service members and honorably discharged veterans who currently live in Carol Stream, previously lived in the community, or have an immediate family member who currently resides in Carol Stream.
Applications are reviewed by Carol Stream VFW Post 10396, with six honorees selected each year. The annual application deadline is February 1.
Inaugural Dedication Ceremony
Join us on Thursday, July 16 at 5:00 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Plaza for the inaugural dedication ceremony honoring six local veterans through the new Military Honors Banner Program, a partnership between the Village of Carol Stream and Carol Stream VFW Post 10396. The ceremony will also include the dedication of a memorial bench honoring the late Commander Rich Hildenbrand.
The evening continues with the Presentation of the Colors by Carol Stream VFW Post 10396 and the singing of the National Anthem by local resident Erin Fischer at approximately 6:45 p.m., followed by the Village's annual Concert for the Troops featuring 7th Heaven and the rescheduled America250 Fireworks.
