Public Works crews continue working throughout Carol Stream to clear storm debris following yesterday's severe storms. Crews are prioritizing roadway safety and other public hazards as cleanup continues.

Please keep the following in mind:

• Power outages: Some areas of the Village remain without power. Report outages directly to ComEd and check the ComEd Outage Map for restoration updates. If you see a downed power line, stay away and call 911.
• Debris cleanup: Public Works is collecting storm debris from the public right-of-way as crews make their way through the Village. Debris on private property is the responsibility of the property owner. Crews will make one pass through each neighborhood and are not scheduled to return for additional debris after completing their route.
• Travel with caution: Watch for debris on roadways, and treat any intersection with a non-functioning traffic signal as a four-way stop.
• Generator safety: To help prevent carbon monoxide poisoning, operate portable generators outdoors only, more than 20 feet from doors, windows, and vents. Never use a generator inside a home, garage, basement, or other enclosed or partially enclosed space—even with doors or windows open
• Clear Storm Drains and Gutters: Remove debris from storm drains, gutters, and downspouts to help water drain properly during heavy rain events
• Test Your Sump Pump: Ensure your sump pump is functioning properly and that the discharge line is clear and draining away from your home. Consider a battery backup in case of a future power outage.
• Check on neighbors: please check in on older adults, neighbors, and others who may need assistance, especially if they remain without power.
