Carol Stream owns and operates waterworks and sanitary sewage systems funded by charges to users. The May 1 adjusted rates for water and sewer services are as follows:
Water charges increased by $0.39 to $8.14 per 1,000 gallons consumed.
Sewer charges increased by $0.44 to $4.66 per 1,000 gallons of water consumed.
The average water/sewer cost increase to a family using 6,000 gallons of water each month is $4.98.
The rate increases fund future capital improvement projects. In 2019, the Village will complete a major water main replacement along Schmale Road at a budgeted cost of $3.1 million. Also, the Village will begin a review of its aging sanitary sewer transmission mains. We can then plan for the proper maintenance of this critical infrastructure.
