We are excited for the upcoming 4th of July festivities. As you and your family plan your holiday celebrations please keep in mind the importance of being a good neighbor. The Village's noise ordinance prohibits nuisance noise between the hours of 10 PM and 9 AM all year-round. Examples of nuisance noise can include music, shouting, amplified sound and sound that can be heard more than 25 feet from your property. Please help us make this a happy celebration season for everyone.
It is important to remember that many fireworks are illegal to use in Illinois and in Carol Stream. The Illinois Pyrotechnic Use Act (PUA) bans the sale, possession and use of all consumer fireworks that include, but are not limited to:
* Blank cartridges * Firecrackers * Torpedoes
* Sky Rockets * Roman Candles
* Toy Cannons using explosives * Balloons w/ fire
* Highly charged fireworks
* Fireworks or tablets with an explosive compound
Consumer fireworks bought legally in Indiana and other states become illegal when transported into Illinois. The Police Department enforces the state firework ban under a local ordinance with possible prosecution in DuPage County Court and a fine of up to $1,000.
Some celebration items that are legal to buy, possess, and use include:
* Sparklers * Booby Traps * Smoke Devices
* Cigarette Loads * Trick Matches * Snappers
* Trick Noisemakers * Auto Burglar Alarms
* Worm Pellets * Small cap guns
