The following credit cards are accepted:  Discover, MasterCard and Visa. A credit/debit card convenience fee of 2.9% of the total amount is required to complete this transaction. This fee is non-refundable should the permit application be withdrawn or found to be not approvable.

Permit Application Reviews & Building Inspections

The Village of Carol Stream strives to provide excellent service in the review and processing of building permit applications. The Village employs Code Professionals with numerous ICC (International Code Council) certifications which ensures a high level of knowledge and training. 

Detailed information about required inspections for permitted construction projects will be provided to the applicant at the time of permit issuance. General information about building inspections is provided below.

• Inspections typically require 24-hour advance notice for scheduling.
• Plumbing inspections, which are performed by a consultant, are available Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m.
• If a scheduled inspection is not approved, or if the work is not ready for inspection at the scheduled time, a re-inspection fee may be applied and payment is required prior to the re-inspection.
