The Village of Carol Stream is committed to attracting and retaining businesses within the community. The Village codes, regulations, and ordinances are designed to establish construction and design standards which provide for the general health, safety, and welfare of the community. Reviewing the Village’s zoning standards and Comprehensive Plan are your first steps in determining if your business or use is allowed at a particular location in town.
If zoning approvals such as a Special Use Permit or Variation are required for your business or use, helpful process guides have been developed to lead you through each process, and zoning applications are also available online.
Building permit process guides and fee schedules can also be downloaded if you require a permit for a construction project. Also keep in mind that your business should be registered with the Village annually, and there are additional regulations to follow if you plan on opening a home-based business.
