The Village of Carol Stream social media pages serve as a platform for communication between the public and Village of Carol Stream. We encourage respectful and constructive dialogue while maintaining a safe and civil space.
Content Guidelines

To ensure productive engagement, we reserve the right to remove comments, posts, or other content that:

  • Contains Profanity or Obscenity: Including vulgar, abusive, or offensive language.
  • Promotes Hate or Discrimination: Content targeting individuals or groups based on race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, or other protected characteristics under Illinois law.
  • Incites Violence or Illegal Activity: Content that advocates for illegal acts, violence, or threats against any individual or group.
  • Is Off-Topic or Spam: Comments unrelated to the original post or repetitive postings.
  • Violates Copyright or Intellectual Property Laws: Content that infringes on copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property.
  • Contains False or Misleading Information: Content intentionally spreading falsehoods or misinformation harmful to public interest.
  • Violates the respective platform’s Terms of Service: Content in breach of the platform’s rules.

Enforcement

  • Posts or comments that violate these guidelines may be removed without prior notice.
  • Individuals who repeatedly violate the policy may be blocked from further participation.
  • Decisions will be documented, including the content removed, the reason for removal, and the date.

Public Records and Transparency

  • In accordance with the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140), all comments, messages, and interactions on this page are considered public records.
  • Do not include sensitive personal information in your comments or messages.

Open Meetings Act Compliance

  • This page is not intended to serve as a forum for conducting official government business or decision-making. Comments or messages will not be considered formal input on matters subject to the Illinois Open Meetings Act (5 ILCS 120) unless explicitly stated otherwise.
