The Traffic Division is comprised of four full-time officers and one sergeant. Officers from the Traffic Division work 10-hour days, seven days a week to provide specialty coverage. Traffic officers receive substantial training in advanced areas of traffic crash investigation, impaired driver enforcement and child passenger safety. The Traffic Division is responsible for:

- Enforcement of the Illinois Vehicle Code

- Various public education programs

- Traffic crash investigation

- Child safety seat inspection program

- Administration of Illinois Department of Transportation traffic safety grants
