The Carol Stream Police Department hosts several community events throughout the year that bring residents together with local officers and public safety partners. These events provide opportunities to learn about safety resources, build relationships, and participate in family-friendly activities.
Mental Health Matters: Glenbard Parent Series Watch Party
The Carol Stream Police Department Social Services Unit kicks off Mental Health Awareness Month with a free community event on Tuesday, May 5, from 6–9 p.m. at the Carol Stream Public Library. The event includes a 6 p.m. resource fair with community organizations, followed by a virtual “watch party” featuring author Catherine Price discussing her book, The Amazing Generation: Breaking Up with Screens and Unlocking Kids' Potential in a Tech-Filled Environment. Sessions will be held for adults at 7 p.m. and for adults, teens, and tweens at 8 p.m.
The event is sponsored by the Carol Stream Police Department Social Services Unit, Carol Stream Public Library, and the Glenbard Parent Series.

Community Park Summer Kickoff Event
Kick Off to Summer on Thursday, May 7, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Community Park. Enjoy Touch-A-Truck, inflatables, a petting zoo, music, and the Blue Scoop Police ice cream cart. Free hot dogs while supplies last, plus raffle prizes.
This free event is hosted by the Park District in partnership with the Carol Stream Police Department and Social Services Unit, Carol Stream Public Library, and Outreach Community Center.

Cop on a Rooftop for Special Olympics
Join the Carol Stream Police Department for Cop on a Rooftop, supporting Special Olympics Illinois. Stop by to donate, enjoy donuts, and connect with officers while supporting a great cause.

Youth Mental Health First Aid Training
Thursday, June 25 | Carol Stream Village Hall
• 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. | In-person Training Session
Build skills to recognize and respond to mental health or substance use challenges in youth ages 12–18, including crisis and non-crisis situations.
• Pre-work Required | 2-hour self-paced online coursework (completed in advance)
Hosted by KidsMatter and the Carol Stream Police Department Social Services Unit, and presented by Endeavor Health. Support provided to KidsMatter from the DuPage County Transformation Partnership, a collaboration between DuPage County and DuPage Foundation. Additional support is also provided by Endeavor Health Community Investment Fund and Linden Oaks Behavioral Health and other generous partners.

B.A.S.S.E.T. Alcohol Server Training
The Carol Stream Police Department offers B.A.S.S.E.T. (Beverage Alcohol Sellers and Servers Education and Training) for liquor licensees and employees. The course covers responsible alcohol service, ID checking, prevention techniques, and Illinois alcohol laws. Participants receive the four hours of instruction required for Illinois Liquor Control Commission certification.

Social Worker Drop-ins at the Library
Carol Stream residents can meet with a friendly Carol Stream Police Department social worker at the Carol Stream Public Library, no appointment needed, to learn about local resources and receive support or referrals—all at no cost.
Typical Schedule:
- Bilingual Sessions: 1st Tuesday of the month, 10 a.m.–12 p.m.
- English Sessions: 3rd Wednesday of the month, 3 p.m.–5 p.m. (Dates are subject to change.)

Carol's Corner: A Series for Seniors
Carol’s Corner is a friendly and welcoming space for local seniors to connect, share, and hear from Village leaders. Subscribe to the Village of Carol Stream email newsletter, follow us on social media, or call the Social Services Unit for details on upcoming events. Light refreshments will be served.

Christmas Sharing Program
Each December, Carol Stream residents come together to share the holiday spirit with neighbors in need through the Christmas Sharing Program, hosted by the Police Department’s Social Services Unit.
Program Registration for Families
Families who may need assistance during the holiday season are invited to register for this free, curbside program dedicated to providing families with gifts, food, and hygiene essentials. Registration dates to be announced.
Donation Drive – Toys, Hygiene Essentials, Monetary Donations
Help make the holidays brighter for Carol Stream families in need by donating new, unwrapped toys for children 12 and under, hygiene items, or by making a financial contribution.

Social Services Unit
The Social Services Unit connects residents with resources, support services, assistance programs, and also hosts community events and educational programs. Social workers are on call 24/7. The Social Services Office is open Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for walk-ins and appointments.
